U.N.I.T.Y.

Unity?  What exactly is unity?  Togetherness.  Where do we see it?  How often does it show up?  In class we looked at different pictures in which we were asked to find something interesting, and make it seem odd, even if we knew exactly what it was.  Coincidently we got the picture from the popular movie "Freedom Writer" showing a class of students huddled together.

We were asked to make something odd of this picture.  Make it SEEM like something that you don't see everyday.  That was pretty easy given this picture.  How often do you see a class united like this.  No matter the age group, school, or location, you never see this happening!  I think it was interesting that Prof. Lacy put this picture in circulation asking us to find/make something strange about it.  I feel like just looking at the picture we automatically she something strange and out of the ordinary, students UNITED!  Do you all see this as being just as strange as I do, or am I doing too much?! Lol

  1. I agree with what you are saying. I think that it is interesting that Lacy makes us think outside of the box and makes us see the bigger picture. Also, I like that she makes it possible for everyone to learn, no matter what their circumstance is.

  2. I agree with you that it is weird that all of the students are united like that. We see teams united, but you almost never see an entire class united together. I think that this occurred because they all experienced a tremendous life changing event together.

  3. I definitely find that unity to be out of the ordinary. Typically a classroom does not come together in such a way. Usually there are a few groups within the class that associate with each other.

  4. I agree that it does look strange. Most classes you always see the students by themselves listening to the teacher, or occasionally forming peer groups to study, but it looks incredibly odd to see unity to this level, with everyone together.

  5. I think this picture is a great example of unity. I seem this movie and I agree it is strange to see the whole class united because they are people from different races and backgrounds who grew up not liking each other and they are all united even thought they are different. This is something that you don't see often

  6. I agree with you and Jeremy, normally in class students are divided. There are always different social groups, but in the picture all of the students are in a huddle showing unity which isn't something we're used to nowadays
