Recording Myself!

I want to talk a little more about me recording myself writing!  That was extremely awkward!  I put my webcam on record and actually forgot that I did so.  15 minutes later I remembered that I did.  The video was so weird because I was all over that place.  I ate, I drank, I watched tv., and I wrote.  When I reflected on myself writing a lot of funny words came up:

Watching
Noticed
Looking around
Bored
Watching tv
Stopping
Drank
Ate
Distracting

All these words are kind of weird to have considering I was working on a project for my history class!  I think I actually learned how crazy my writing process is, and how even though I never completely focus on what I'm doing, I always seem to come out successful.  I also learned that I work best when I'm doing something else.  This is probably backwards but when I'm focus on one thing at a time, I usually get even more distracted! Lol

  1. I was the complete opposite! haha I noticed the screencast from the beginning and it actually helped me stay more on track with what I was doing. But I'm the same with not being able to focus if I'm not doing something else! I almost always listen to music while I'm studying/doing homework.

  2. I agree with you about trying to focus on one thing can make you more easily distracted. Unless its a topic I know a lot about, or I'm under pressure to get it done, I'm usually not motivated at all and I will stare at the screen rather than doing something productive.

  3. I agree. Being forced to write for a solid 15 minutes felt like torture to me, but if i'm in class I can write a lot with no problem while carrying on different conversations. It's nice to know that I wasn't the only one who was all over the place while trying to do that.

  4. I'm interested in this thinking about location and writing. Sometimes I feel much better about writing if I am with other writers (like in class). Other times I need the time on my own (though I still connect to other people on skype, twitter etc, when I seem to be alone.)

  6. I thought it was funny because the same thing happend to me but maby a little worse. I started the video and then my room mate walked in and it went down hill from there I was not realy focused on writing at all. I figure out of the 15 min I recored I was only writing for about 5 min. I feel like that I am usuasly more conentrated but I guess the video wouldnt lie.

  7. I am right there with you!! When I recorded myself I thought it was so awkward and didn't know how to act at first. After some time had past I forgot that it was on and I was not focused on one thing at all. I couldn't stay focused on my homework because they're were so many distractions in my room. It was so weird to go back and watch myself.

  8. I find the same thing happening to me! When I try to focus on just one thing, I either just forget what I'm doing or get distracted by EVERYTHING! Nice post andkeep up the good work.

  9. I feel the same way ! It felt really weird to have to record myself for a project. I noticed that I was easily distracted by twitter, facebook, my tv, etc. But I've also noticed too that I can concentrate easier when I'm doing something else along with it like listening to music.
